Prima first invested in Sri Lanka in 1977 and is today one of the country’s biggest foreign investors.

Prima’s business in Sri Lanka includes Flour milling, baking industry training, feed milling, poultry breeding, commercial poultry farming, poultry processing, and the manufacture of value-added food products like bread, cakes, pastries, instant noodles, fresh noodles, rice noodles, chicken sausages, and meatballs.

Prima Ceylon (Private) Limited (PCL) operates a unique flour milling complex that is completely self-contained. Its facilities at Trincomalee provide for the loading and unloading of wheat grain, flour, and by-products directly onto and from the ships docking at the wharf/jetty. The fully-integrated mill is served by a modern transport network with road, rail, and sea access. In addition, there are residences, a clubhouse, a clinic, and other amenities within the complex for our employees.

Completed in 1980, the flour milling complex in Trincomalee is the world’s largest flour mill under one roof with a daily milling capacity of 3650MT of wheat. Our third group of silos was ready in August 2015 with a total silo space of 350,000MT. The extended and upgraded jetty can now berth up to 100,000MT of Cape-size bulk carriers. The newly completed inner multi-purpose wharf can handle containerized vessels to help increase South Asian trade. A fleet of more than 20 state-of-the-art prime movers is deployed for islandwide distribution.

As part of our long-term commitment, the Prima Baking Training Centre (PBTC) was established in Colombo in 2004 to provide practical training to practitioners and promote modern baking techniques.

Prima Ceylon Machinery (Private) Limited (PCML) is PCL’s subsidiary in importing and selling baking equipment and baking machinery. PCML aims to support and upgrade the baking industry by providing professional services in the automation of bakeries throughout the island.
